As experts from the insurance sector converge to discuss the art of ‘Promoting Retirement Without Tears Through Insurance and Pension Plans’ at Inspenonline Retirement Summit, Insurfeel Initiative has said it would donate insurance covers to 10 persons, worth N24.2 million, a uni-personal cover and school fees protection plan to some students at the event.

Slated for Thursday, April 25, in Lagos, the publisher of Inspenonline, Mr. Chuks Okonta, in a statement, said the donation is part of the initiative’s one million insurance covers donation agenda.

Okonta who was the erstwhile president of National Association of Insurance & Pension Correspondents (NAIPCO), confirmed that the summit has put measures in place to ensure the insurance and pension sectors experience a transformation going forward; as the summit would set a new template for redefining retirement lifestyle for Nigerians, whilst imploring those who seek knowledge on how to retire comfortably to attend the event which comes at no cost.

Professionals attending the summit include members of Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA); Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC); Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC); Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) and Pension Desk Officers (PDOs). Others are, members of informal sector,  insurance operators, pension operators, lecturers, students, workers and potential and prospective retirees.

“This summit was designed to provide the requisite knowledge needed to help the public to effectively plan and enter the retirement phase of their life smiling, and also help those in retirement bracket to rediscover themselves.  We implore the public to embrace the act of providing insurance to their family members and loved ones because it is cheaper to buy insurance than contribute money when mishap occurs. This is a great oppourtunity for anyone to acquire knowledge on retirement for free,” he stressed.

The event, which he christened the University of Retirement, has faculty leaders, such as, chairman of event, past president, Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN)/former MD of Sterling Assurance Limited, Fatai Lawal; special guests of honour, the Commissioner for Insurance, Sunday Thomas; Director General National Pension Commission (PenCom) Mrs. Aisha Dahir-Umar.
