The end of year.event of the which took place at Welcome Centre Hotel, Lagos recently was witnessed by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Community leaders, market leaders and other Igbo stakeholders.

President of the Igbo Women Assembly, Chief Mrs Nneka Chimezie said the collaboration with ADF was due to her passion for the things that are very important for the development of Igboland.

She said ADF has been fully involved in the promotion of development in Igbo land.

“That is the major reason Igbo Women Assembly approached them for collaboration for the development of Igbo land, with this we have become the women arm of ADF.”

We want to use this gathering to sensitize our people on the need to protect and promote the Igbo language. When the language of the people goes into extinction,  the people are also going extinction because automatically the people will have lost their identity.”

Chimezie noted that the gathering was also an opportunity to discuss how the women can cue into the Igbo industrialization agenda. “We also want to use this opportunity to talk about how we can industrialise the southeast and also seeing how women can help to drive this agenda, because it appears our women have gone to sleep.”

She also said the occasion was to discuss how to kick-start the Igbo language school of the group. “We also want to establish schools where our children can go and learn Igbo language. We discovered that it is not what Igbo Women Assembly can do alone, so we call for the cooperation of all , especially the Ezes in various local governments areas .We invited them and many of them are already here. So, we hope they will collaborate with us to realize this dream.”

In his speech, President of Alaigbo Development Foundation, Professor Timothy Uzodimma Nwala commended the Igbo Women Assembly for their efforts at ensuring that Igbo Language does not go into extinction.
