And for the businessman who is the Onowu Il (Traditional Prime Minister) of Umudioka in Dunukofia LGA of Anambra State, his popularity among his kindred and business associates, home and abroad, has not shrunk a bit. Seen as a bridge builder in his community, the Igwe and Council of Chiefs have given him an active role in the town union, Umudioka Improvement Union (UIU) Lagos Branch, where he served as the President General for many years. During his tenure, he also chaired the conflict resolution committee that brought peace to the town in general. But one area he has won his people’s heart is in his extraordinary philanthropic nature of educating children of the downtrodden in the society. For almost two decades now, Amuta, through his Chief Ben Amuta Educational Foundation, covers bills of hundreds of indigent students from secondary to tertiary school—even up to the Masters level. This extraordinary gesture has earned Amuta honours and awards both home and abroad.
