Stakeholders of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo State, under the aegis of Concerned Imo APGANs, have warned against rumours making the rounds that a money bag has bought the leadership of the party in the state.

The leader of the group, Chief Ihedi Nwokeke, said the news is that a top official of one of the banks in the country has doled out huge sums of money to the leadership of the party in the state, to get the governorship ticket in the 2019 general election.

According to him, the leadership of APGA in Imo State must not allow anything that would destroy the victory which the party is looking at in 2019.

He said what those who want to allow themselves to be influenced with money should know is that some people laboured to make the party the beautiful bride it is today, in Imo State.

He said the party has never looked at deep pockets before electing their governorship or other candidates, adding that if money is the priority of the party, people like Peter Obi and Willie Obiano would not have emerged governorship candidates as there were other far wealthier men in Anambra State. Nwokeke said APGA is not a party for money bags, adding that changing the goal post at the middle of a match, might cost them the governor of Imo State next year, which is already within their reach.
He said in picking a governorship candidate, APGA looks at competence, character, compassion and courage.
