President Muhammadu Buhari has promised that the Federal Government will pay more attention to infrastructure development in Bayelsa State.
Buhari, who made the promise when the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential train berthed in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, said his administration would pay attention to the request of the traditional rulers for increased infrastructure development in the state.
While reiterating his commitment to the three cardinal campaign promises the APC made in 2015, which he promised to sustain, the president vowed that all those who took money for power projects and did nothing would be made to refund the money.
Buhari told the massive crowd at the Ox-Bow Lake Pavilion, Yenagoa, that his administration would not relent in its determination to improved the lives of people, especially in Bayelsa State.
Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Heineken Lokpobiri, appealed to the president for adequate security during Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections, so that Bayelsans can freely express their choice for the APC’s presidential candidate.
He said: “Mr President, what we seek in Bayelsa State is a level playing field, so that Bayelsans would be able to vote and make their votes count for the APC. You have done a lot for us in Bayelsa State, and the people are grateful. Mr President, you are known for your integrity and stance on corruption, that is why we want you to look into the N1.3 trillion collected by the Bayelsa State government in the last three years, with nothing to show for it. Bayelsa State still remains the least developed state and the darkest state in Nigeria. We assure you that Bayelsans will come out en masse and vote for you.”
The leader of the party in the state and former governor, Timipre Sylva, said president Buhari has done a lot for Bayelsans, and the people are ready to express their gratitude with their votes on Saturday.
