The South-East Concerned Group has condemned Igbo leaders who work against the interest of the geopolitical zone, in the name of politics.

In a press statement by its president, Engr. (Dr.) Chuks Onuegbu, after its meeting in Enugu, the group said Igbo who demomise their fellow Igbo and the region, in general, in their effort to curry the favour of the government, are doing the zone no good.

In Onuegbu’s words,  “We condemn Igbo who use the newspapers to run other Igbo sons and daughter down because they want to be noticed by the powers-that-be or because they want favour from the government.  Such people are not doing the South East any good. They are destroying the zone.

“We need to work together, to have a common front. In politics, we should have a collective interest, instead of promotion individual interests.”

The group said a time has come for the Igbo to identify leaders, who could hold high offices in the country and support them, saying that such people abound all over Igboland.

“It is indeed politically wise to invest in leaders whose attributes are well known, people who understand and have the core values of the Igbo nation and people. This will ensure that we are prepared for the highest office in the land.”

The South-East Concerned Group said accountability and good stewardship at all levels shall be sacrosanct in the zone and vowed to bring to book whoever may have corned any money meant for the public into a personal pulse.

“We shall promote, award and appreciate those that add to the welfare and progress of Ndigbo through quality representations or personal financial involvements and make conspicuous announcement of those tyrants the saboteurs in Igbo land,” it said.
