The coordinator, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Ohogua, Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, pastor Solomon Folorunsho, has decried the economic hardship faced by the inmates in the camp

He said they barely eat a meal in a day due to the present economic hardship, therefore, have resulted to a regular fast in the camp.

He said this while speaking with journalists at the camp on the present economic reality as it affects their day-to-day living.

“It is very challenging I tell you. We have been fasting three times every week. This last week, we just did our three days fasting.

“And this week, I just don’t want to push the children anymore. It is really tough. One bag of rice, you don’t even need to mention the amount. A Jerrycan of oil, just name it, everything is really tough.

“The children are just hoping, praying for the government, praying for every segment of the society so that everything can become alright. Actually, it has been tough”, Folorunsho said.

Folorunsho said that despite the present economic challenges facing the camp, the children still believed that the God who saw them through the era of COVID-19 pandemic, is still able to see them through this difficult times.

“All the children are happy, they are hoping that God who took us through the period of COVID-19 is still able to see us through.

“COVID was a very tough and challenging times where people can’t move and even when there was a little movement, everybody was concerned about who was coming , social distance and all that, we came through it.

“They believed that this same God will take them through this very situation that is indescribable”, Folorunsho added.

He also appealed well meaning Nigerians, the government at all levels to come to the assistance of those who are currently in the various universities and those who are about gaining admissions, adding that, any financial help would go a long way in achieving their academic goals.

He said that when the students have finally graduated from their various institutions of learning, they will also contribute their quota to the development of the society.
