… Urges CAC, employers to wipe out quacks

Certified People management professionals (HR) from the Chartered Institute Of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) across the country and beyond are set to welcome president Bola Tinubu, at its 55th anniversary (Emerald Jubilee), equally its 55th National Conference and Exhibition holding in Abuja, 13th through 16th of this month.

Addressing newsmen at its Headquarters in Lagos, the President/Chairman of Governing Council of CIPM, Mr. Olusegun Mojeed, affirmed that the Confab would feature the crème de la crème in Human Capital Management who would engage HR practitioners across the country in intensive and extensive knowledge- sharing and experiences needed to keep their heads above the sea level in their respective domains.

CIPM president maintained that the cross- pollination and fertilization of ideas session would go a long way to arm practicing HR managers to navigate safely as the world business environment becomes more volatile and hostile. He alarmed that the Institute would no longer deploy Moral Suasion in pursuit against quacks parading as HR professionals.

“Employers must help us to wipe quacks by employing only those certified. The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) should also ensure that only those qualified and certified are able to register HR firms. We have done a enough of Moral Suasion, now we are not relenting in cleansing the Profession to get rid of impostors. We want to begin to enforce the law, because we’re running out of patience”

Mojeed admonished his colleagues to keep learning as the leadership of the Institute offers a lot of platforms and opportunities for growth, while it seeks to collaborate with some corporate bodies like MAN and other employers to boost the profession.

He advised people emigrating out of the country to leave responsibly and remain good ambassadors of Nigeria. “You must Japa responsibly. We are employee advocates. We think for them to know what makes them happy. We’re not pressure group nor unionists. If the business does not make money, we wind up and it’s people who makes the money. So we must think stategically and critically as we remain optimistic going forward” he avowed.
