Terrorists, last Saturday, stormed the residence of Alhaji Lado Mairuwa and slaughtered him in cold blood, alongside his neighbour, Sani Abdullahi, in the Mairuwa community of Faskari Local Government Area, Katsina State.

Governor Dikko Radda, during a visit to the families, on Monday, described the incident as an act of callousness and savagery.

The bandits also abducted one of Lado’s wives and his 14-year-old daughter during the attack, according to his 18-year-old son, Umaru Abdulhamid.

He told the Secretary to the Katsina State Government (SSG), Abdullahi Garbage Faskari, who represented the governor at the condolence visit that, “the armed men, who were many, suddenly crashed into the premises of our house around 8pm while we were observing the evening prayer.

“They fired shots sporadically and tried to whisk away my father, who vehemently resisted, and they shot him to death instantly.

“The gunmen also shot and killed our neighbour, Sani Abdullahi, when he went out shouting for help. They kidnapped my step-mother, Hajya Rabi, and my younger sister, Maryam Abdulhamid, and we have not heard of their whereabouts since then.”

Described as a big-time farmer before his killing, Lado Mairuwa was also a successful businessman and survived by two wives and 26 children, while the slain neighbour is survived by two wives and 20 children.
