Nigerian Export Promotion Council reiterate on Federal Government’s commitment to increasing cocoa production to 500,000 tonnes yearly with a view to making it contribute more to the country’s earnings and also to encourage young nigerians in the business

The Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) in reactions, said the Federal Government know that in bid to ensure cocoa export we need to encourage especially young once so as to contributed more to Nigeria’s earnings.

“As for a culture-rich nation as Nigeria, the success of a young entrepreneur is the key to our nation’s transformation in the new millennium.”

“Thus in the view of instilling a culture of nation-building and leadership dynamics, We need to take a leap on a young nigerian that was one time largest exporter of cocoa by name Dekunle Okunrinboye, he inspired us and many.”

“Cocoa farming is one of the major agricultural activities in Nigeria and Africa, with Nigeria being the fourth-largest producer of cocoa in the world.”

“The journey for him to become a successful Cocoa exporter took alots of grit, sacrifice, and ambition; he has to sacrifice the chance to even bond with his family because he was always in farm or in a business environments.”

“According to information we got from their close associates , While he was growing up the young entrepreneur (Dekunle) during the holidays, always visited his father’s cocoa warehouse and sometimes he sit with him during his business dealings. He loved how his father handled business and how committed he was to all the businesses he had. To him nothing is more important than one’s ability to do through numbers, experience, expertise (and) intelligence.” They concluded.

Further research from business day newspaper,shows that the Ondo State, 28 years Dekunle Okunrinboye got his elementary education at his father’s Institution; Adedewe Educational Center, and later attended Caleb International College, Lagos, He is also a graduate of Babcock University. Dekunle has been exporting cocoa beans for some years and he was a major exporter of cocoa beans, accounting for a good percentage of Nigerian cocoa bean exports.

Majority of cocoa farmers in Nigeria and Africa are smallholders with limited access to credit and market information. He was able to avert those challenges because of the parents influence in the business which then made him the major contributor to the economy of Nigeria and Africa as a whole, providing income and employment opportunities for millions of people.

In 2020, he was awarded by his home state government in Ondo State for his vast resolve in contributing to nation building and empowering entrepreneurs through his business. He is currently seen as one the youngest business influencer in Nigeria.

After he was awarded by the government of Ondo in his remarks he said ; “If a kid like me can make a difference, anyone can, too,” explains Adekunle. “When we all do just a little bit, it adds up to a huge difference.

Online findings shows he is also a philanthropist who makes series of donations to charitable causes anonymously and also extends his hand of fellowship & stewardship to the downtrodden. He believes in helping the community by volunteering his time to teach financial literacy and hosts an annual drive to donate to mostly underprivileged.

As at year 2020, He was Nigeria largest exporter of cocoa and one of the most influential young entrepreneur in the country. He is currently the Co-founder of DK industry group, that was intially established as a haulage business, now expanded into a conglomerates.
