Rampaging gunmen suspected to be cultists have shot dead six persons in Ahoada East and Ahoada West Local Government Areas of Rivers State.
This incident occurred 24 hours after four persons were killed and two beheaded in the Rundele community in Emohua LGA by suspected cultists.
Daily Sun gathered that in the latest development, a person was shot dead in the Abarikpo community, Ahoada East LGA early morning Wednesday and five persons in the Odiereke-Ubie community, Ahoada West LGA on Tuesday.
The incident in Ahoada East was confirmed to journalists by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Akoh Youth Congress in Akoh Kingdom in the area, Ekeakita Hector Chinem.
He disclosed: “In Abarikpo community in Ahoada East LGA, at about five minutes after 4:00, early this morning (Wednesday), some group of cult boys who reside in the neighbouring community, came to Abarikpo community and went in search of about three persons.
“Unluckily, one Aburi Dickson Edi was found in his house sleeping. They broke into his house, shot him in his stomach and his intestines opened. They took the bike down to their hideout.
“Secondly, in Odiereke Ubie community, ward 9 Ahoada West LGA, precisely, five youths were killed yesterday (Tuesday) because the community refused to pay N1 million to the hoodlums living inside the bush.
“This community don’t have money, none of their elite is available at home. The people at home do not have money.
“When these five youths returned from the farm, they meet their sudden death. They came with three bikes, killed them and left without quarrelling.”
The Akoh Kingdom PRO described as a mischievous statement credited to some chiefs in Ekpeye Ethnic Nationality in Ahoada East and West LGAs that there was no insecurity in the area.
He said the chiefs were saying so just to gain favour from members of the public and their followers who are allegedly enjoying the killing.
He disclosed that killings are recorded on a weekly and monthly basis in Ekpeye land.
The Akoh kingdom spokesperson called on the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka, to showcase himself by making sure the culprits are brought to book.
According to Chinem, the hideout of the hoodlums is known and he wondered why security agencies are pampering the hoodlums.
