Concerned indigenes of Nsukka, Enugu State have raised the alarm over plans by some powerful politicians in the area to cause problems in Nsukka Local Government Area (LGA).

The concerned citizens have, therefore, sent a save-our-souls to the State Governor, Mr. Peter Mba, and other well meaning indigenes to do something urgently to advertise a political turmoil in the area.

In what they described as clandestine design and orchestrated plans by some politicians in the area jostling to wrest power from the incumbent chairman of Nsukka Local Government, Mr. Walter Ozioko, to enable them destroy the political structure of Governor Mba, and his predecessor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the group said the plan would cause serious political problem.

In a statement signed by Mr. Chibuike Ogbobnna, the group said in order to achieve their nefarious aim, it was reliably learnt that the politicians have been trumpeting that the incumbent governor, Peter Mbah, and his predecessor were solidly backing their moves to take over from the incumbent chairman of Nsukka local government.

They pointed accusing fingers at a serving female supervisor in the local government, whom they alleged was masquerading to be in support of the present chairman completing his second tenure, while she went about holding secret meetings where she continued to assure her supporters that both the present governor and his predecessor were solidly backing her candidature.

They alleged that she further bragged that as an insider, who works with the chairman, she knows how to deal with him.

The group said so far she has succeeded in holding nocturnal meetings with some political heavy weights in the area, but during the recent meeting held in a popular hotel, off the university campus, she was told, point black, that the achievements of the incumbent chairman are so encouraging and he deserves a second tenure.

They reportedly enumerated the achievements to include: asphalting of cold room road, Lejja park,  Lejja/Ameze road, TTC/Odoru road, Onudialoke road,  construction of ICT/Skill acquisition centre, construction of primary school at Amagu Umuachom, construction of four dams along the Uwani Ugwu/Obimo Ikwoka area to mitigate flooding and construction of health centre at Obimo.

The group said other achievements are: the provision of transformers at Obimo community, construction of legislative building at Nsukka LG area premises, construction of borehole at Idi Opi etc.

The concerned citizens of Nsukka, therefore, appealed to governor Mbah to check the excesses of the black legs in Nsukka local government council before they use his name and that of his predecessor to run down the enviable political structure they had graciously put in place in the area.
