Obidike Jerry

Association of Anambra State Development Union (AASDU) has joined other well-meaning Nigerians to support the choice of former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, as Atiku’s running mate in the forthcoming 2019 presidential race.

Atiku’s choice of Obi elicited condemnation from South East governors, who argued that they were not consulted before the decision was made public.

However, AASDU, in its press release signed by its president, Vincent Osakwe, and the Publicity Secretary, Ejike Metu, urged the governors to downplay the issue of consultation and see the bigger picture of addressing Igbo marginalisation, which the nomination seeks to correct. The umbrella body of more than 177 Anambra State Town Unions in Lagos described the choice of Obi as a recognition of his economic wizardry, which he deployed astutely as governor of Anambra State, to make the state one of the shining examples in Nigeria, adding that “a gold fish has no hiding place.

“As the governor of Anambra State for eight years, you utilised the meagre allocation from the federation account and the internally generated revenue to give Anambra a face lift in terms of road infrastructure.”
