The Executive Committee of Great GSM Computer Village, operators of the popular GSM village in Benin City, have promised technical assistance to members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State council just as they solicited the union’s help in disseminating their activities to the public.

The body, led by its chairman, Mr. Ahmed Ikhelowa, made the promise during a courtesy visit to the union in Benin.

Mr. Ikhelowa, accompanied on the visit by other executive members of his Union, used the occasion to also announce that arrangements have been concluded to celebrate the body’s annual carnival, adding that this year’s edition promises to be different in many regards.

The body known as Great GSM Computer Village made up of professionals, are responsible for coordinating the activities of their members in the sales, service, and repair of mobile phone devices known as GSM.

During the visit, Mr. Ikhelowa said some novel features have been introduced to spice up the annual carnival.

He listed the seminar on “GSM Technology” which he noted will be handled by invited IT resource persons as well as the Special Day set aside to enable members to render “voluntary services” as two of the new features introduced to mark the event.

He said, “Mr. Chairman, I am here to explore how both Unions can collaborate. Similarly, I want to plead with your Union to assist us in disseminating our daily activities to the world.

“During our annual carnival, we shall unveil some new products and services to the public. We are keen to deepen our relationship with critical stakeholders. Your Union is strategic in this regard. We also use this opportunity to assure your members that whenever they come to the GSM Village for business to liaise with the PRO of the Union to enjoy up to 30 percent discounts and other service offers”.

Responding, the Edo State NUJ chairman, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, commended the body for reaching out and assured that the NUJ will strive to give positive coverage to the activities of the Union.

Comrade Alenkhe also appealed to the Union to enlighten its members on the need to conduct diligence checks before carrying out repair works on customer mobile phone devices.
