From Aniekan Aniekan, Calabar

The Cross River State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure Ankpo Pius Edet, says the present administration will not abandon signature projects inherited by the previous administration.

The signature projects are mega projects that the previous administration initiated to change the socio-economic landscape of the state.

These projects include the Obudu Cargo Airport, Boki East/West Road, Bakassi Deep Seaport, among others.

Speaking in Calabar on efforts by the present administration to revamp infrastructure in the state the commissioner said those projects will not be neglected because they belong to the state and taxpayers’ money is involved.

In his words, “Signature projects like the Bakassi Deep Seaport will not be neglected because they belong to the Cross River State and must be done.

“Let’s not forget the Lekki Deep Seaport started twenty-four years ago and today it’s a reality.

“If Ayade could not achieve it, Otu might, one thing that is sure is that the Bakassi Deep Seaport will come to reality.

“There are other projects like the Boki East/West Road which have been recaptured into the budget and we will soon swing into action.

“The Cargo Airport is ongoing, the contractor is on it and as you know that’s a big project and we expect to complete it soon.

“These are signature projects from the past administration that we will not let go because Cross River State money is involved”, the commissioner said.

The commissioner also disclosed that about ten new roads will be constructed in Calabar South this year and work will kick off soon.

He listed other roads the government has intervened including Ndok Junction, Esuk Utan, Depot Road and the parliamentary extension.

He said road projects across the 18 local government areas have been captured in this year’s budget.

The commissioner added that all roads in Calabar belong to the state government and should not be attributed to anybody.

The commissioner added that the government is giving hope to the people of the state and has a lot in stock.
