The Government of Gombe State has announced the promotion of 26085 workers in the Local Government Area (LGA), Local Education Authority (LEA), and the Primary Health Care (PHC) in the state.
This was disclosed by the state commissioner of local government and chieftaincy affairs, Ibrahim Dasuki Jalo at a press conference on Monday in Gombe. He explained that the promotion was contained in the approval issued by the state governor which also ordered the payment of gratuity for retired civil servants in the state and LGA.
According to the commissioner, the promotion was part of the governor’s vision to reform the civil service of the state for better and more efficient service while also ensuring a good reward system.
“For the past 14 years there has been no promotion for teachers in the LEA until today the workers have been stagnant without promotion,” he said.
There was a notional promotion in 2014, 2015, and 2017 but, without monetary and financial benefits, this our own will be implemented and the workers will benefit from it,” the commissioner added.
He further explained that a total of 6738 staff of the LGA, 2608 PHC, and 16739 workers have been identified for the promotion and that it is expected to cost the LGAs about N109. 427 million.

According to Dasuki, as part of efforts to strengthen the LGAs in the state, the governor has ensured the elimination of borrowing before payments of monthly salaries and pensions across 11 LGA of the state.
