…as Lalong flies APC ticket

The senator representing Plateau South in the National Assembly, Gen. Jeremiah Useni (rtd) has been declared winner of the Plateau State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primaries election.

Sen. Useni pulled a total of 2018 to beat other 12 contenders in the kindly contested primary election.

Declaring the results, the electoral committee chairman, Dr. Ibrahim Umar said Sen. Useni, haven scored the highest votes in the pulled is hereby return as the PDP candidate for the 2019 Governorship election in the state.

The Member representing Shendam, Quanpan, Mikang Federal Constituency of Plateau State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Johnbull Shekarau, came second with 340 votes and former senator representing Plateau South, Victor Lar came third with 249 votes.

For Speaker of the state House of Representatives, Hon. Gorge Daika pulled 199 votes and former Chairman of Shendam Local Government Area, Hon. Nicolas Nshe pulled 117 among other contestants.

Sen. Useni dedicated his victory at the primaries to God and the delegates who believed in HS ability to drive the state to remarkable success and out of insecurity.

Meanwhile, Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong has been affirmed as the sole candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2019 governorship election in the state.

This followed his affirmation by the delegates of the party during its governorship primary election held on Sunday at The Crest Hotel, Jos.

Lalong was affirmed as the candidate of the party through a voice vote, being the only aspirant  seeking the party’s ticket ahead of the 2019 governorship elections.

Sen. Gbenga Obadara,Ogun Central, who was the Chairman of the state governorship primary election committee, declared the governor as the party’s sole candidate in the February 2019 election.

The declaration was sequel to the moving of a motion to that effect by the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Joshua Madaki, supported by a former deputy governor of the state, Mrs. Pauline Tallen.

Moving the motion for affirmation, Madaki said: “I hereby, move the motion that we affirm Governor Simon Lalong as the sole candidate in the February 2019 governorship election.”

Tallen, while supporting Madaki’s motion said, “I hereby support the motion moved by the Speaker that Governor Simon Lalong be adopted as the sole candidate of the party for the forthcoming election.”

Following the moving and supporting of the motion, Senator Obadara declared that all ballot papers go into the ballot boxes in Lalong’s name as the sole candidate for the February 2019 governorship election.

Speaking after the affirmation, Lalong thanked the delegates for the confidence that they reposed in him.

“I see a very clear future for Plateau State. We shall overcome all the challenges facing the state.

“I want to thank the people of the state for their support, and also appeal to the people of the state to continue to support me at all times.

“For those  that I have offended, please forgive me and for those that offended me, I have forgiven you. I will  never let Plateau people down, I will always continue to stand by my people at all times.”
