World football governing body, FIFA has warned the leadership of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) that the $480,000 (about N173 million) they paid for the World Cup preparation of the Super Falcons must be used strictly for that purpose and not to be diverted to a private purse.

Sports247.ng gathered this in a circular dated January 25, 2019. FIFA explained that the money paid would not cover costs incurred by the NFF before January 1, 2019.

They added that they would audit how this money is spent to prepare the nine-time African champions for the Mundia

It would be recalled that FIFA had since 2015 stopped paying the NFF development grant after they objected to how previous grants were squandered by the federation.

It would, however, be noted this was the first time such preparation cash would be paid out by FIFA to the 24 finalists for the Women’s World Cup and they expected transparency to encourage continued support of the grant.
