Former Super Eagles winger and Atlanta ‘96 Olympic Games gold medalist, Tijani Babangida yesterday narrowly escaped death in a fatal accident.

It was gathered that the former Ajax Amsterdam speed star was traveling with his wife and brother when the accident occurred along the Kaduna -Zaria highway.

According to sources close to the 30 capped Nigerian international, while Tijani managed to escape unhurt, his brother, Ibrahim Babangida wasn’t as lucky as he died in the unfortunate incident.

Tijani’s wife, the sources said also was lucky to escape death but sustained injury and she has been admitted at the University of Zaria Teaching Hospital.

Meanwhile, Tijani Babangida’s teammate in the national team, Abdul Sule confirmed that the former Niger Tornadoes winger is conscious and spoke to him on phone. He however didn’t expanciate on the level of their conversation.
