An outbreak of fire on Thursday night has burnt down power substation including multi-billion naira power transmission equipments at Birnin Kebbi power substation of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

 

The night inferno,which started about 11:30 pm on Thursday was said to have burnt transmission equipments which might caused blackout in Kebbi State and it’s environment for for some weeks.

Eye witness informed newsmen that the prompt intervention of the Fire Service team saved other equipment and stopped the fire from extended to other parts of the station.

 

While sympathized with the company and Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO),Kebbi State Government through its Special Adviser on Political Affairs and Power,Alhaji Kabiru Sanni Giant,counseled the company’s not to be depressed as a result of the incident.

Giant,in a statement made available to the newsmen through Chief Press Secretary to the Governor,Ahmed Idris,quoted him to have said that he advised the company not to be distracted by what happened in view of the colossal damage incurred following the ugly incident, instead, it should be brave and courageous enough to absorb the shock.

 

According to him, “he, however, said that even though it’s not the responsibility of the government to repair or buy any of the equipment, yet, in its magnanimity, the state government under His Excellency, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu would look into the possibility of assisting the company.

“This, he said, is with a view to restoring light to the good people of Kebbi State”.

He added that,the Special Adviser appealed to residents of Kebbi state to remain calm and exercise little patience as the light would be restored in due course.
