The Federal Government has said it would mobilise internal resources to finance the healthcare need of Nigerians.

It said it was also working with states’ government and other stakeholders to explore other funding options that would be used to meet healthcare need of Nigerians.

The government was optimistic that such move would guarantee regular finances for healthcare services, as Nigeria prepares to exit international financial assistance programme.

Minister of State for Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, told World Health Assembly (WHA), in Geneva, Switzerland, that Nigeria had resolved to make its health sector an investment destination.

He said in a statement by his director of media, Boade Akinola, that the government had encouraged public private partnership to improve strategic planning and budgeting, transparency and accountability, budget execution and performance, with focus on efficiency and results.

The minister also told the gathering that Nigeria has improved on its ability to handle emergencies and challenges of public health concern with regard to prevention, detection and control of epidemics.
