The challenges of agricultural mechanisation will take the front burner at a two-day special agro equipment and technology expo billed to take place in Abuja from April 16-17.

The event is aimed at showcasing a diverse array of agricultural machinery designed to increase productivity and sustainability in food production where experts will centre their discussions around “Sustainable Food Security and Agro Produce Export Through Mechanisation”.

The event is the brainchild of a partnership between Eurobase Consult Limited, the Federal Government and foreign investors.

Speaking on the event in Abuja, Eurobase Africa’s Group Chairman, Don Ekesiobi, said the expo is in response to the President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency on food security and aims to bridge the mechanisation gap and promote sustainable food production and export through advanced mechanisation.

Ekesiobi highlighted the crucial role of mechanisation in achieving sustainable food security while stating that it is imperative that stakeholders unite to devise immediate and long-lasting solutions to food crisis through mechanisation.

The expo is expected to provide an avenue for knowledge exchange among farmers, stakeholders, experts and to demonstrate the government’s dedication to supporting agriculture and fostering technological progress.

According to Ekesiobi, the event will offer interactive demonstrations and insights into innovative farming practices, facilitate networking with top suppliers, manufacturers and professionals and present an opportunity to discover the latest in agricultural technology.

He said there would be a panel discussion on addressing key challenges and opportunities in sustainable agriculture.

He said, “it is important to note that the government cannot do it alone without the support of private participation. This is more reason and the focus of Eurobase in collaboration with Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to organise a two-day stakeholders’ engagement targeted to resolve the food crises in Nigeria.

“There is a need for us to come together as a nation to brainstorm and provide immediate solutions in the form of short and long-term interventions.”
