A female former corper Miss Arit Abam has been offered automatic employment by the Cross River State governor Senator Bassey Otu.

Miss Abam, a Mass Communication graduate from Temple Gate Polytechnic, Aba, Abia State posted a video online of her return from youth service to her father’s thatch house in the village.

In the video, the former corper filmed herself marching towards her father and gave him a military style salute.

She thanked her father and handed over both her NYSC jacket and face cap to him in celebration of his efforts to educate her.

The video attracted the attention of the Akwa Ibom State governor Pastor Umo Eno who pledged to build a three-bedroom flat for Mr Abam and his family in recognition of his sacrifices.

As a result of this, the state governor Senator Bassey Otu has granted Miss Arit Abam automatic employment in the state civil service for honoring her father’s sacrifices to give her higher education.

Governor Otu gave Miss Arit the privilege to choose any ministry, department, or agency she would prefer to work with within the state civil service.

The governor in a release by his Chief Press Secretary Nsa Gill charged youths in Cross River State and beyond to emulate such acts he described as “worthy of reward.”

Governor Bassey Otu also lauded Governor Umo Enoh’s gesture towards Arit Abam noting that it confirms the bond between the two sister states.

In her response, Arit Abam thanked the Cross River State governor for his magnanimity, which she sees as an encouragement toward maintaining cultural standards and values.

She also thanked God for earning goodwill through a simple act of gratitude.
