From Isaac Job, Uyo

Akwa Ibom Governor Pastor Umo Eno has sent his message of felicitations to President Bola Tinubu, as the “father of our nation”, and other fathers across the country and the world, celebrating their roles in shaping and instilling values in their children, families, and society.

In his Father’s Day message, released by the Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, and made available to journalists in Uyo on Sunday, Governor Eno thanked God for being an ever-present Father, guiding, directing, and showing love, grace, and mercy, especially in times of need.

The message reads in part:

“Let me also thank the father of our nation, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his exemplary role in uniting the nation and treating everyone with love, irrespective of political affiliations.

“Even though we may be currently experiencing some economic challenges, the President has shown, through some of the tough decisions he has undertaken to right the economic ship, that he means well for the nation and that before long, shared prosperity will be upon the land.”

Governor Eno encouraged Nigerians to continue to show love to President Tinubu, just as loving children would to their fathers.

“We owe him our continuous support, in the manner that loving children would show to their fathers.”

He extended this same love to former presidents of Nigeria who had assisted in the foundational development of the nation.

He noted that fathers are visionaries who can correct their children when they stray from the right course in life, using love, compassion, and gentle guidance.

“Let me also thank those fathers who toiled for the state in the past and helped to lay the foundation of development that we, today, are working hard to expand.”

Governor Eno also encouraged fathers who remain resourceful in raising children, facing and confronting challenges to keep the family unit intact.

“To the women who, through no fault of their own, are playing so wonderfully and admirably the role of fathers – the single mothers and widows – we commend you.”

“Let me end this message by quoting the Bible portion in St. Luke’s Gospel Chapter 15:20 (King James Version): ‘And he arose and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him,’” he said.
