Chairman of Ivo Local Government Area in Ebonyi State, Chief Emmanuel Ajah, disclosed that he has distributed over 18,000 farm inputs to farmers.

The inputs included over 1000 cartons of spraying machines, 3000 bags of fertilisers, 5000 cartons of agro chemicals, rice seedlings of different species and others.

Ajah said the distribution was to assist farmers in the 2024 farming season and boost food production in the area.

“It is my avowed commitment to leave no stone unturned in terms of agricultural facelift in my council.

“My people here are farmers though we are blessed with some mineral resources, but the major occupation of the people here is farming.

“In Ivo LGA, we grow cucumber, watermelon, and okra.  The Akaeze community, for instance, is known for farming okra. We farm cassava, maize, and yam among other crops.

“But, I have decided to make farming easier for my people, considering the economic situation in the country. It is hard for families to feed these days, so without the government’s intervention, farming will be difficult for the people.

“My government is not just providing agricultural inputs for the farming season, but for all round season, and we have provided them with fertilisers for that purpose.

“This is to see that as a LGA in an agrarian state, we produce enough food to sustain us, and to export to other parts of the country,” the council boss said.
