THE Ali Modu Sher­iff-led faction of the Peoples Democrat­ic Party (PDP), has chal­lenged the court or­der trying to stop it from holding its national con­vention in Port Har­court today.

The faction said it had also filed a motion for stay of execution of the ear­lier court order, by a Fed­eral High Court in La­gos, trying to stop it from conducting election into the offices of the National Chairman of the party, the Secretary and Auditor.

Briefing newsmen at the Government House, Port Harcourt yesterday the Chairman of the Na­tional Convention Com­mittee, and governor of Rivers State, Chief Nye­som Wike, said nobody could stop the party from holding the convention.

Governor Wike, who described the court order as fraudulent said the party did not want to take chances, hence, the filing of a motion for stay of ex­ecution and appeal against the court order, saying, court order is fraudulent.

He said the constitu­tion of the party was very clear on holding conven­tion, adding that the Port Harcourt convention was scheduled by the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party.
