The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), have agreed to share revenues and and any liabilities that would arise from the Boeing 737-NG firefighting simulator equipment acquired  by the federal government in 2019.

Both organisations agreed to this position in a meeting held at the headquarters of FAAN at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos.

A statement by the Director, Public Affairs & Consumer Protection, FAAN, Mrs. Obiageli Orahs, said that Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, its Managing Director represented the agency, while Mr. Joseph Imalighwe, the Rector of NCAT, represented the college.

Also, in attendance were other management staff of the two agencies.

At the meeting, it was agreed that FAAN would use its network to attract foreign trainees to use the facility, which would raise revenue for both organisations.

The multi-purpose aircraft fire simulator, situated at NCAT campus in Zaria, offers different practical firefighting and rescue scenarios.

The statement said that the use of the simulator equipment would save the country billions of foreign  currency in training costs, which hitherto went to other countries.

Kuku said: “We are happy to have finally come to this agreement between sister organisations in the interest of the safety of our passengers and improving the competence of our brave firefighters. This will improve our image globally and attract revenue that both organizations need.

“As I have always said, safety will take priority in everything we do at FAAN and this is a demonstration of that.”
