According to the medical director, the items donated were prayers answered because the hospital had been in dire need of them. He said they came in the nick of time.

Responding, Williams, who was accompanied by  his wife, Chief (Mrs.) Abimbola Williams, said he felt happy giving back to humanity after 53 years of active work. He said: “I am 75 this year and I was happy when approached on the issue because it was an avenue for me to give back to humanity.”

While refusing to inscribe his name on the donated items, he noted that, “it is important for man to always give God all the glory no matter the position we acquire in life as we are passers-by here on earth.”

Speaking further, Williams, an agriculturist, who read tropical, sub-tropical and temperate agriculture in The Netherlands with specialisation in animal husbandry, thanked the people of Somolu for  the opportunity to serve humanity through this gesture.

He was particularly delighted that he had an opportunity to contribute his quota to the administration of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, especially as the governor’s wife was  the first medical director General Hospital Somolu had before she became the First Lady.

Also on his entourage were Mrs. Abimbola Lande Wright, his daughter; Mr. Leke Dina; Dr. (Mrs.) Dina; Oluwabunmi Ogunsanya, his personal assistant, and Mr. Omololu Akinwande, a business man.

Williams, who was taken on a tour of the hospital facilities, also promised to donate more equipment to the hospital in no distant time, as he believed that no amount of money was too much to augment Lagosians’ welfare and health care.
