The member representing Wase Federal Constituency at the National Assembly,. Ahmed Idris Wase, has reaffirmed commitment to continue injecting more dividends of democracy to his constituents.
Wase, a former 9th Assembly deputy speaker said his desired is to always improve the social and economic well-being of the people.
The lawmaker made this known during the inauguration and handing over of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), community study centre in Wase, Wase local government area, Plateau state.
The NOUN study center which was initiated by the Lawmaker is aimed at fostering community empowerment and sustainable development.
“This project is dear to my constituency looking at the importance of education for Nigerians. It is in alignment with our renewed hope mantra of president Ahmed Bola Tinubu administration, we are ensuring that every Nigerian improves their standard of living.
He appreciated President Bola Tinubu for creating an enabling environment, saying, “I want to appreciate His Excellency President Bola Tinubu for giving us the enabling environment to operate and commission this project.”
“This university will serve as an open university and a center for learning, not only for the people of Plateau State but also for those in Gombe, Taraba, and other places.”
The Lawmaker assured there is numerous projects he executed which due for commissioning and others ongoing.
“We have been able to connect our people to national status and attract a budget worth 77 billion naira. We have also brought a learning institute to Bashar, another learning center here in Wase, a federal medical center in Wase, and the National Orthopedic Hospital in Jos.”
Senator representing Plateau South, Simon Lalong acknowledged the establishment of the center is significant for advancing education, which is a key priority as it aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s policy thrust.
“This center will benefit not only people from Plateau but also those outside the state. Moreover, more institutions have been created in Bashar benefiting Wase, Plateau state, and Nigeria. We urge the community to continue their support, as more developments are expected for Wase.”
NOUN Vice Chancellor Prof. Olufemi Peters, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor administration, Prof. Isaac Butswat stated that this center holds great significance for Wase and its neighboring communities.
“It is designed to empower underserved populations by providing accessible educational resources and skill-building opportunities, breaking the cycle of poverty and fostering sustainable livelihoods”, he mentioned.
