The former presidential candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Major General John Gbor (retd), has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to float Youth Development Bank as part of measures to combat poverty and unemployment among Nigerian youths.

He spoke in Abuja, Monday, at the first national strategic planning conference of Patriotic Action Nigeria (PAN).

He said the Bank when established would enable talented and entrepreneurial youths to easy access to interest-free loans that would make them employers of labour and to contribute to national economic development.

He observed that the present banking be the situation as regards to loans for Nigerian youths and women was unrealistic thereby contributing to various challenges confronting them all over the country

Gbor also called on politicians and political office holders in the country to be committed to the continued corporate existence of Nigeria and desist from using the protest by Nigerian youths as a guise in destabilizing the country.

He stressed the need for the spirit of unity, love and patriotism among all Nigerians to realize the dreams of the nation’s founding fathers.

Gbor called for more political will in the fight against corruption while advising Nigerians to always hold their leaders accountable for their actions in terms of good governance.

He further emphasised the need for more proactive measures that would strengthen the security of lives and property of Nigerians.

He was presented with an award of excellence for his contribution to humanity and political development of the country at the conference.
