The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State has declared seven days prayer and fasting session from December 1, to usher in peaceful, transparent and violent-free elections next year.

This was as a socio-political and religious group in the state, The Crusaders, plans a prayer convention at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, on Saturday, to also hand the 2019 general elections to God.

Director General of Enugu State PDP campaign organisation, Dr. Charles Egumgbe, in a press conference, on Thursday, said the programme was in keeping with their tradition of entrusting the affairs of the state to the hands of God.

He also urged the people to pray for issue-based, smooth and successful campaigns in the state.

Also, Chief Gbazueagu Nweke Gbazueagu, whose group is behind the special crusade/anointing service by the publisher of “Our Daily Manna”, a daily spiritual prayer manual, Bishop Chris Kwakpovwe, said their major objective is to minimise casualties that come with negative  exposures during elections.

Gbazueagu who is the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for Enugu West senatorial district, explained that the programme has no political connotation as the organisers and readers of the prayer book cut across party lines.

“This has nothing to do with politics but even if you have to win in politics, you must win in the spiritual realm first before the physical,” he said.
