The House of Representatives member, Prof Paul Nnamchi, has dedicated the recent judgement of the Court of Appeal which ended the legal battle over his electoral victory to God and the people of Enugu East/Isi-Uzo federal constituency.

Nnamchi, who was speaking at a civic reception organised on Sunday by his constituents to celebrate the judgement, thanked the people for their overwhelming support, noting that it was a thing of joy to see that the will of the majority of his people was upheld.

He further pledged to continue to ensure that his people enjoyed quality representation at the federal level.

“I will thank God that at this moment both God and the law is on my side. I can only thank the court for upholding the people’s wish. The overwhelming votes that the majority of the people have bestowed on us was validated by the Appeal Court.

“It is a thing of joy and before now I didn’t know that people could throw morality through the window and go for what they don’t have or merit.

“Left for me I think it would have been difficult for me to go for me to look for electoral victory when I know very well how much I lost against someone that won more than three times your vote. I think it would have been against the people’s wish if it had gone the other way round.

“But now is the time for work. My reward for good work is more work. I can’t thank them enough but I will pay them with my representation and they won’t regret electing me. It won’t be long until you will start seeing serious development in this place and in my entire constituency.”

An Appeal Court sitting in Lagos had on Friday reinstated Nnamchi who contested under the Labour Party, thereby upturning the ruling of the State and National Assembly Petition Tribunal which had declared candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Cornelius Nnaji as winner of the February 25 election.
