Lafia, the vibrant capital of Nasarawa State, erupted in jubilation on Saturday as dignitaries from across the nation converged to commemorate the remarkable fifth anniversary of Emir of Lafia, Sidi Bage’s reign.

The illustrious event, held at the Emir’s Palace, witnessed a grand spectacle of tradition and camaraderie, with luminaries spanning various sectors of society joining in the celebration.

In a display of unity and respect, traditional rulers from every corner of the nation graced the occasion alongside state governors, legislators, top politicians, technocrats, academia, business moguls, religious leaders, ambassadors, and esteemed members of the judiciary, including Justices of the Supreme Court and other judicial bodies.

Reflecting on the significance of the event, Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar emphasized the enduring bonds of unity and collaboration that unite the diverse people of Nigeria, calling for prayers to overcome the nation’s challenges and foster development.

The Royal Father of the day, Emir of Borno, HRH Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai, underscored the deep connection between Lafia and Borno, highlighting the shared heritage and mutual support between the two regions.

In his address, the celebrant, Emir Sidi Bage Muhammad (retd), expressed profound gratitude to all attendees, particularly the traditional rulers, for their unwavering support and solidarity. He traced the rich history of the Kanuri people in Lafia and the lineage of the throne, dating back to Dunami in 1780.

The event was marked by captivating cultural displays, including the Royal Daba performed by horse riders in traditional Kanuri attire, adding to the festive atmosphere.

State Governor Engr. Abdullahi Sule acknowledged the pivotal role of traditional rulers in fostering peace and unity, urging citizens to rally behind the monarch in his quest to serve the people diligently.

Speaker Danladi Jatau echoed these sentiments, lauding Emir Sidi Bage Muhammad for his tireless efforts in promoting harmony and progress in Nasarawa State, while calling for continued support to sustain his achievements.

The outpouring of support from title holders, hunters, and other community leaders further underscored the profound reverence and admiration for the esteemed Emir.

As the celebrations drew to a close, Emir Sidi Bage Muhammad (Rtd) embarked on a majestic horse ride, accompanied by a retinue of riders and well-wishers, symbolizing the enduring legacy of tradition and unity that defines his reign.
