The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command said it has put adequate security measures in place to protect lives and property of residents and to ensure free flow of vehicular movements in and out of the city.

The command, therefore, called on residents to go about their lawful duties without fear of being molested by members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), or any criminal group.

The police had also advised the Shiites on the need to be law-abiding and ensure they write and secure the appropriate clearance before embarking on any form of procession in the FCT.

Public Relations Officer in charge of the command, Anjuguri Mamzah, made this known, in a statement.

Mamzah, in the statement made available to Daily Sun said, “Following trending social media messages that the El-Zakzaky Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) is planning a major procession into the Federal Capital Territory, the FCT Police Command wishes to reassure members of the public that it has deployed both uniform and plain-clothe police operatives at strategic points to forestall any breakdown of law and order in the Federal Capital Territory.

“Adequate security measures have also been put in place to protect lives and property and to ensure free flow of vehicular movement in and out of FCT.  Members of the public are therefore enjoined to feel free to go about their lawful activities.

“The Command seizes this medium to address member of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria on the need to be law abiding, and ensure they write and secure the appropriate clearance before embarking on any form of procession in FCT”.
