President Muhammadu Buhari has appealed to the South West caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to take the mission to rescue Ekiti State seriously so that the party would laugh last after the July gubernatorial election.
The president made the appeal, on Wednesday, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, at a dinner he had with them at the new Banquet Hall.
He said he called for the dinner to claim frayed nerves and to appeal that members work together for the success of the party in the coming elections.
He believed Ekiti State would ultimately benefit if the party wins.
He assured the people of his support and that they should not subvert the will of the people.
Notable personalities at the dinner included the National Leader of the APC and former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande, and the National Chairman of APC, John Odigie-Oyegun.
Others included Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Segun Oni, Minister of Mines and Steel Development and APC flag-bearer in the forthcoming Ekiti gubernatorial race, Kayode Fayemi.
Governors at the meeting included Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo) and Tanko Al-Makura (Nasarawa) who was the chairman of APC Ekiti Guber primaries committee.
Some members of the National Assembly, Ministers and stakeholders from the zone also attended the dinner.
Before the dinner went into closed doors, it was announced that Fayemi and Tinubu would make brief remarks before the dinner, while Odigie-Oyegun and the President would speak after the dinner.
