From Priscilla Ediare, Ado Ekiti
Segun Ajibulu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, has knocked the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar over his comments on the new and old naira swap.
The Coordinator of Tinubu Campaign groups in Ekiti noted that the former vice president’s refusal to support the extension of the deadline has vindicated the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer, Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s position.
Tinubu had at a rally in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, alleged that some people were behind the current scarcity of fuel and currency notes to punish Nigerians with a view to scoring cheap political points.
The APC chieftain said, “if Atiku who was desirous of leading the country could be so wicked and insensitive to the current hardship being faced by Nigerians, it would be dangerous for Nigerians to entrust the PDP’s candidate with power.”
Ajibulu who made the remarks when he spoke with newsmen in Ado Ekiti, the capital of the state, noted that for such comment to have emanated from Atiku, Nigerians were no longer in doubt as to know the identities of those who put them in the current economic hardship.
Ajibulu who commended the APC governors for their prompt and sincere intervention on the matter by demanding further extension of the swap deadline at their meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari called on the President to prevail on the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, to extend the deadline to at least six months in order to end the needless agonies of Nigerians.
“Only a clear enemy of the masses would oppose the extension of the deadline in this precarious situation. Atiku’s position shows he is not in tune with current realities, even when critical stakeholders in the North and South have expressed their reservations on the policy and poor style of implementation.” Ajibulu said.
The APC stalwart also demanded a comprehensive publication of the records of the new notes in circulation and their disbursement.
“Again the PDP and indeed its Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar have shown their colour by supporting the anti-people policy of the CBN.
“The opposition of the former Vice President Atiku to the deadline for the Naira swap is not only wicked but condemnable and insensitive. It shows the PDP is working in cahoots with the CBN to inflict more pain on Nigerians.
“This would amount to insensitivity on the part of the government if it failed to investigate the cause of this needless fuel crisis. I think it is high time President Muhammadu Buhari sanctioned some evil-minded individuals within the system who are bent on bringing his government down. I cannot imagine how some government officials should still be sitting comfortably at their duty posts with all this economic mess.
“We have a number of PDP elements who served during the administration of Goodluck Jonathan who was still retained by Buhari. Mr President should know that these people will never wish him well.
“I was told that nobody is allowed to clear any goods at the ports as of now. The officials are giving flimsy excuses that the network was poor. How can we be having this kind of situation under the current hardship? I hope somebody is listening to me on this.
“If their target is Asiwaju’s Presidency, I think they are getting it wrong. Nigerians believe in Tinubu and they know quite well that he has the capacity and capability to deliver, but we must not be complacent and allow these economic saboteurs to have a free day. By the special grace of God, Tinubu is winning this election and all available indices are in his favour.
” This callous stance further corroborated the verdict of former President Olusegun Obasanjo on the questionable character, desperation and corrupt tendency of the PDP presidential candidate. Nigerians would not repeat the mistake of entrusting PDP and Atiku with power. Nigerians are wiser now, were it not for the alarm raised by Tinubu on the evil machinations of the PDP many Nigerians would still be in the dark as to what is going on in the economy.
“Their evil plot has been exposed and the APC and Tinubu are waxing stronger and by the special grace of God we are winning the February 25 presidential poll.”
