Even as the Super Eagles of Nigeria arrived Russia for the much talked FIFA World Cup and expectations of Nigerians are high, the Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike, J. P has tasked the team to remain focused and determined to prove their nettles in the mundial.
Ejidike sounded that even though pundits have expressed divergent opinions on how far the Super Eagles would go in the championship, he said it is possible for them to spring surprises as it happened in 1996 when Under -23 Eagles won the Olympic Gold as well as the Flying Eagles in 1989 in Saudi Arabia.
“It is true that Super Eagles lost their international friendly matches in their preparations for the World Cup, that may not be a true reflection of the cohesiveness of the team but should be a template for Coach Gernot Rohr to strategize “
“I have the belief that Super Eagles will not only survive the group but go far in the mundial”.
He called for prayers and support for the national team even as cautioned against comments and remarks that may dampen the spirit of the players.
