Imo state Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha yesterday urged Muslims in the State and across the nation to always pursue the cause of peace and as they celebrates the Eid-el-Fitri, saying that the elites are responsible for the mutual suspicion between christians and muslims in the country.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Sam onwuemeodo, the Imo state governor noted that before now Christians and Muslims across the nation had lived in peace for a long time, but that the current mutual suspicion among the adherents of the two major religions in the nation was caused by desperate elites to gain political and economic advantages.

Okorocha said, ” with peace in the Country and genuine love among Nigerians irrespective of their religious differences and places of birth, Nigeria as a nation, would easily overcome its challenges and also achieve greatness”.

He added,” Political and religious leaders should be patriotic by laying more emphasis on those virtues that unite Nigerians as a people and not no the issues divides the people”.

The governor assured Muslims in the State that his government and the people of the State would continue to treat them as their brothers and Sisters, and reiterated his advice to them to remain peaceful and see themselves as partners in progress in his honest effort to make the State better than he met it.
