The Efiko Initiative, an educational foundation committed to fostering academic excellence and advancing education in Nigeria, has held its inaugural scholarship presentation ceremony in Badagry, Lagos.

Founded by marketing strategist and business developer, Temiloluwa Solomon, the initiative seeks to recognise exceptional students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance. To be eligible for the scholarships, students from various schools underwent a rigorous examination, with the most exceptional individuals receiving recognition and rewards.

Following a thorough evaluation conducted by qualified academics, Faith Nkemakolam emerged as the top performer and was bestowed the prestigious title of the ‘Efiko of Badagry’ and awarded a scholarship cash prize of N200,000, and a computer set for her school. Oluwatosin Oyesomi secured the second position, earning a scholarship prize of N100,000, while Princewell Nwokoye clinched the third position with a scholarship prize of N50,000.

Four other outstanding students were granted one-year scholarship in their respective schools, with six others receiving consolation prizes.

Speaking at the scholarship presentation ceremony, Solomon said the event marked the commencement of a series of initiatives aimed at rejuvenating academic excellence in the nation while advocating a culture of meritocracy.

“The goal of the Efiko Initiative is to ignite a passion for knowledge among young Nigerian students and demonstrate that academic excellence is indeed rewarding,” Solomon said.

Drawing from personal experience as a scholarship recipient from primary to secondary school, he underscored the transformative impact of such initiatives on the younger generation.

Looking ahead, Solomon announced plans to expand the Efiko Initiative’s reach by extending the competition to other regions and introducing online quizzes, providing students with opportunities to learn, engage, and be rewarded.
