From Okwe Obi, Abuja

The coast appears clear for the standard bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Asue Ighodalo, ahead of the Edo State governorship poll, as a former Federal Commissioner of the Public Complaint Commission (PCC), Felix Alari, has thrown his weight behind his candidature.

Alari told journalists yesterday in Abuja that the PDP and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, presented a beacon of hope for the people of Edo State in these trying times.

While urging the people of Edo State to unite in building a brighter future of the state, he said PDP would usher in a new era of prosperity and progress, declaring that Edo state cannot be a fertile ground for APC’s failed governance.

He said: “The All Progressives Congress (APC) has had its chance at the federal level, and its performance has been, to say the least, an abysmal failure and underwhelming.

“It is clear to all and sundry that 9 years of APC government in Nigeria at the federal level has pauperised Nigerians.

“Today many Nigerians look back at the 16 years of PDP at the Federal level  with great nostalgia and a strong wish that we could go back to those years.

“As Edo people goes to the pools we cannot afford to replicate the same disappointing outcome of the APC  led government at the federal level by voting APC into power in the forthcoming election.”
