The governorship candidate of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), in the 2024 Edo State governorship election, Bishop Akhalame, yesterday, said he will invest part of his security vote into money spinning venture that will help reduce the level of employment in the state.
He said this while fielding questions from newsmen in Benin.
Akhalame said the security vote given to governors has not been accounted for adding that despite the money, insecurity is still on the high side.
“When the security vote comes, we have a lot of challenges, a lot of areas asking for money.
“I can decide to invest the security vote in a business that will be yielding revenue for government and I will tag it, this is where my security vote went into and the person that will succeed me will know that it is necessary to ensure that the security vote is used because if you look at what is happening today, the security vote is not being used for the purpose in which it has been released.
“Today, security vote is still being released but insecurity is still on the high side.
“I will ensure that the purpose of which it is being released, is being used for and whatever will be remaining will be channeled for a job creative venture for the Edo people.
“I am very young, dynamic, I am a strategic thinker. I can think, I can think Edo people out of poverty”, Akhalame said.
While also stating that he has learnt from his previous elections, said he is going to create a data base for the citizens of the state with the view of knowing those gainfully employed and those who are not adding that such would enable him to plan economically for the state.
He maintained further that he is optimistic of succeeding the incumbent governor of the state.
