Ahead of the May 29 swearing-in ceremony of the 4th Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Francis Nwifuru, the senator representing Ebonyi Central in the National assembly, Chief Obinna Ogba, has called on the people of Ebonyi State to give maximum support to the incoming Governor.

Ogba, who also aspired to Govern the state under the platform of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), noted that Nwifuru has garnered the necessary leadership experience to lead the state to prosperity.

Addressing journalists on Monday at his Nkalagu country home, Ogba claimed that his party, the PDP lost the state because it gave the governorship ticket to the wrong person.

He explained that the PDP Governorship candidate, Ifeanyi Odii, is Governor Umahi’s cousin, noting that his candidature negated the principle of equity, justice and fairness in power rotation in th state.

H said he was proud to have joined other well-meaning Ebonyians to support the APC candidate to win the election.

“I believe that power belongs to God. Even if a man wants to stop you, he can’t succeed except God allows him to do so. I am happy that the people I supported won the elections.

“I urge you, journalists, to give maximum support to the incoming government led by Ogbonna Nwifuru. He is a young man with potential. Administrations are different. From Walter Feghabo, it is different. From Simeon Oduoye to Sam Egwu, Elechi, and Umahi, all were different.

“It is not easy to preside over the House of Assembly for 8 years. Nwifuru has gotten experience. He knows the state in and out.

“I am not Nwifuru’s adviser. As an Ebonyian, I know that the outgoing governor has done well, especially in the area of infrastructure.

“Nwifuru has even said to my hearing that he will empower Ebonyi people to make them stand tall with others outside the state. Other advice from me to him will be private and not for your consumption,” he said.
