He said he would hold meetings with stakeholders of various local governments in the state and advised any council chairman who wishes to contest the election to ensure he/she has the trust and support of the stakeholders.

“Like I told the council chairmen on Saturday night, those that want to contest the election to go back to their office, should do that with the trust and support of the stakeholders of their local governments because our party remains a very large party and we will do everything within our reach to resist imposition of candidates, we will resist it,” he said.

Nwifuru said as a governor busy with schedules, he may not know what is happening in the local governments but that the stakeholders know the happenings.

He explained that primaries for the election will happen between this month and May.
