The Delta State Independent National Electoral Commission( INEC) has scheduled February 4 to conduct mock accreditation with the B-Modal Voter Accreditation System ( BVAS) in the state.

The exercise is tailored to test the technical evaluation of the device ahead of the 2023 General Election which will commence on February 25 with presidential and national assembly elections.

INEC had in January successfully carried out the first technical evaluation of about 6,000 pieces of BVAS delivered to the Commission in Delta State, to ascertain the viability of both hard and software.

INEC’s Bukola Ojeme, Ag Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity, in the state, in a statement on Tuesday, said that the mock accreditation exercise, which will hold in 12 selected Polling Units, across 3 Senatorial Districts and 6 LGAs, is a step further in ascertaining its functionality on the field.

The exercise will commence at 8:00 am and close at 2:00 pm and only registered voters, with Permanent Voter cards ( PVCs) in the respective Polling Units are eligible to participate in the mock accreditation.

Ojeme appealed to Deltans, particularly participating registered voters to abide by the instructions of officials deployed for the exercise for a successful outcome.

He also appealed for peaceful and orderly conduct in and around the precinct of the mock accreditation exercise, while also assuring that the outcome of the exercise will be shared with the public.

The Commission also appealed to registrants who are yet to collect their PVCs to take advantage of the extension of the deadline to February 4th , 2023, to visit the Commission,s LGA office, where they register to vote to do so.
