Some Civil Society Organisations om the platform of the Kogi Conscience Liberation Movement (KCLM), has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to thoroughly prosecute all corrupt leaders, including the former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello over allegations of financial misappropriation and ensure there is no preferential treatment.

They made the call while addressing newsmen at the EFCC’s headquarters in Abuja.

The group also urged the EFCC not to be intimidated, but investigate various allegations of financial misappropriation against Bello.

Leader of the group, Comrade Okpanachi Jacob commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed fight against corruption and stressed that Kogi State must be rid of every corrupt practices.

Another member of the group from Kogi Central, Comrade Desmond Okparu explained that the EFCC had taken bold steps through its recent revelations and must be encouraged.

Responding, the Acting Director, Public Affairs in the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren expressed happiness that ordinary citizens of the State were concerned about the misuse of the state resources and gave an assurance that the EFCC would not allow the issues to be swept under the carpet.

Mr. Uwujaren explained that there was no Nigerian above the law and stressed that Bello must come and respond to allegations against him.

The group carried placards with inscriptions such as: All Corrupt Leaders Must Face Their Charges, Kill Corruption Before It Kills Nigeria, EFCC, You Are Not Alone, We Are With You and Former Governor Yahaya Bello, Bring Back Kogi Money.
