The Theatre Commander of the military counter-terrorism operation in the northeast, Maj Gen Ibrahim Ali, has called for speedy justice by a Court Martial established for the trial of alleged erring soldiers and officers in the operation.

Gen Ali while inaugurating a Special Military Court yesterday at the Maiduguri headquarters of the Joint Task Force Northeast Operation Hadin Kai, urged the court to remain very professional.

“I urge you to remain highly professional and give fair hearing in order to do justice to the accused as well as to the system ” he said.

The Commander urged the court to do everything within the law to ensure justice is served to all parties.

He also urged the court to speed up the trials and conclude all cases in line with global best practices.

The inauguration of the court-martial was attended by the Deputy Theatre Commander, Maj Gen KA Isoni, Component Commanders, and principal staff officers at the Theatre.

The Theatre Command Special Court was established to try soldiers and officers alleged of professional misconduct or infractions of operational procedures and rule of engagement in the counter-terrorism operation in the northeast.

The President of the court is Brig Gen AO Solarin.
