Justice Sherifat Sonaike of the Lagos High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) has fixed March 27,2024 for arraignment of Managing Director of CMB Building Maintenance and Investment Limited, Kelechukwu Mbagwu over alleged forgery.
Mbagwu was accused of forging the signature of late Olufemi Folarin Oshile.
The judge fixed the date yesterday after the state prosecution counsel, Mr. Matthew Olateju told the court that the defendant was yet to be served the charge because is not in custody.
Olateju said that the prosecution has communicated with the nominal complainant to see how the defendant can be served. He prayed the court for an adjournment of the case to enable the prosecution serve the defendant.
The State Government filed one count charge information of forgery against Mbagwu.
According to the prosecution, his offence is contrary to the provision of Section 365 (3) (e) of the Criminal Law, Cap C.17, Vol 3, Laws of Lagos State 2015.
The prosecution said the defendant sometime between 2010 to 2012 at 6/8 Panti Street, Adekunle, Yaba, Lagos, forged the signature of late Chief Olufemi Folarin Oshile on form 1c.
The charge reads: “That you Kelechukwu Mbagwu (M) sometime between 2010 to 2032 at 6/8 Panti Street, Adekunle, Yaba, Lagos State, in the Lagos judicial Division Forged the signature of Late Chief Olufemi Folarin Oshile on Form 1c Dated this vi day ot Ltd G MST cure 2023 “
