In a bid to enhance learning and development in tertiary institutions and employability after graduation, Codix Pharma Ltd has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.

The MoU aims to introduce biosensors and nanotechnology courses to the Department of Chemical Sciences. The official signing was recently held at the institution.

Chief Operating Officer, Codix Pharma Ltd, Mary Ogangwu, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “we are honoured to partner with this citadel of learning to enhance the curriculum of the next generation of students. As an organisation, we believe that it is time to invest in academics, which is in tandem with the requirements of the workplace.

In his response, Vice-Chancellor, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Professor Johnson Agboola, emphasised the importance of academic innovation. “A nation’s productivity is directly linked to the innovative output of its academic institutions. For too long, there has been a disconnect between academic learning and real-world applications. This landmark partnership, according to the organisation, signifies a step forward in promoting academic-industry collaboration and fostering innovation for national development.

In December 2023, Colexa Biosensor Limited, a subsidiary of Codix Pharma Limited, commissioned the first In-Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) Factory in Sub-Saharan Africa and the unveiled OnPoint Blood Glucose Meter & Strips duly evaluated, approved, and registered by the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control.
