Buhari is expected to visit the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Garbai Elkanemi.

The President’s visit is expected to serve as a morale booster for officers and soldiers in the aftermath of the killing of a number of soldiers at Metele in Northern Borno, by Boko Haram.

Buhari had on Tuesday cancelled his planned five-day private visit to Daura, Katsina State to enable him to be in Maiduguri as a mark of respect for victims of Boko Haram attacks across the battlefields in the Northeast zone.

He had earlier cancelled his official trip to Benin City, Edo, where he was billed to inaugurate the Edo-Azura Power Plant and attend the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Annual Conference, initially billed to take place in the ancient city.
