Founder of Jehovah Eyes Salvation Ministry, Prophet Godwin Ikuru, has thrown his weight behind the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, saying he will deliver the state from the bondage of bad governance.

He made this declaration in Lagos while speaking with newsmen. “Okpebholo is the chosen one to deliver the people of Edo State from the bondage of non-achievement and backwardness. If you take a good look at Edo State, you will see that there’s no remarkable achievement by any administration. Okpebholo is the one that will put things right,” Ikuru said.

He disclosed this at a press conference in Maiduguri, weekend, to commence his exit from the institution after his tenure. He said he had improved on the infrastructure of the university, rehabilitated a number of roads, constructed learning and research centres and drilled some boreholes, among others.

He also recalled some intervention from public-spirited individuals and organizations. These, he said, included the International Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship by billionaire businessman, Abdulsanad Rabi’u and Centre for Countering Violence Extremism Auditorium donated by the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) which, according to him, had advanced teaching, learning and research in the university.

He said the University remained open to more partnership with organisations, institutions and private sector to improve research works and development in the country.

“The university is doing its best to partner with others and we believe the only way to make progress is to collaborate with institutions and organizations both within and outside the country,” adding that more interventions are coming from UNDP and TETFUND.

Though not without some challenges, Prpf Shuguaba said he found governing UNIMAID an interesting endeavour and also fulfilling.

He said the university had some security threats before he came on board but was able to weather the storm, citing the murder of a lecturer in his office by unknown assailants in early April as one of the shocking movements to the university community. He said the police were still investigating the incident and even reportedly sighted the car of the deceased lecturer abandoned by the assailants somewhere in Bauchi State.
